Review: Fall of Night (The Morganville Vampires #14) by Rachel Caine

Summary-
Thanks to its unique combination of human and vampire residents, Morganville, Texas, is a small college town with big-time problems. When student Claire Danvers gets the chance to experience life on the outside, she takes it. But Morganville isn’t the only town with vampire trouble...
Claire never thought she’d leave Morganville, but when she gets accepted into the graduate program at MIT, she can’t pass up the opportunity. Saying good-bye to her friends is bittersweet, especially since things are still raw and unsettled between Claire and her boyfriend, Shane.
Her new life at MIT is scary and exciting, but Morganville is never really far from Claire’s mind. Enrolled in a special advanced study program with Professor Irene Anderson, a former Morganville native, Claire is able to work on her machine, which is designed to cancel the mental abilities of vampires.
But when she begins testing her machine on live subjects, things quickly spiral out of control, and Claire starts to wonder whether leaving Morganville was the last mistake she’ll ever make...

Review-
This is Book 14 in the Morganville Vampire series. Besides this book, I've also read and reviewed Book 11, Last Breath, on this site. Both books are a solid five stars and the whole series will probably also be five stars when I get to read them all---hopefully soon! Author Rachel Caine's character and series protagonist, Claire Danvers, is a fun character to follow because trouble chases her as if she's Buffy The Vampire Slayer. And she kicks vampire tail like Buffy as well, lol. Claire leaves Morganville, it's vampire population and her best friends, Eve, Michael and her boyfriend, Shane, in order to live a somewhat normal life as a college student. Luckily for the reader, she will never be able to escape Morganville's vampires and finds herself in danger again. First from her roommate's stalker, then from vampires, and later, from a rabid group of vampire hunters. The enormous appeal of this series is that the action is brief and intense. There is a lot of fun teenage ribbing, romance, and normal teen moments. Plus, Claire is a super-smart nerd who still gets the hot boyfriend and the emo best friend. A truly inspirational message for all geek girls everywhere!
