Summary-Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life.
WOW! I LOVE this book. This is my new favorite ghost story. It was unpredictable and a bit dark but irresistible. I couldn't stay away from it. I stayed up late night after night reading this book.
The characters Cas and Anna are a couple that i just found myself rooting for all the way through till the end. Cas is brave and strong and definitely a hero in my book. He thinks and says the same things I was thinking and would have said. The writing is witty and at times funny.
Such as paragraph that reads: Ive been in the attic, eating cats. I look closer at the black snake he's been weaving though his fingers. It's Tybalt's tail
"You f*ck--You ate my cat!" I yell and thank you, Tybalt, for one last favor, that pissed-off rush of adrenaline.
The writing is awesome.
There is some foul language but very few. And its in the appropriate places. The dialogue is phenomenal.
Cas is an awesome main character. And Anna is a great secondary character. She isn't afraid to sacrifice herself for love.
This author is talented and smart and witty and I am now her number one fan!
This is a must have for your book self. It is amazing writing and an amazing ride. I LOVED IT! and you will too! I hope Im on the ARC list for book two!
