Review: Talisman of El (Talisman of El #1) by Alecia Stone

Summary-
One Planet.
Two Worlds.
Population: Human ... 7 billion.
Others ... unknown.
When 14-year-old Charlie Blake wakes up sweating and gasping for air in the middle of the night, he knows it is happening again. This time he witnesses a brutal murder. He's afraid to tell any one. No one would believe him ... because it was a dream. Just like the one he had four years ago - the day before his dad died.
Charlie doesn't know why this is happening. He would give any thing to have an ordinary life. The problem: he doesn't belong in the world he knows as home. He belongs with the others.

Review-
Alecia Stone has captured the essence of today's teenagers in Talisman of El. The story begins with an orphaned teenager, Charlie, who has been in the foster care system for five years. He has finally found Jacob, a man who wants to adopt him. Charlie starts at a new school, has his own bedroom, and has made a best friend in Alex, a tomboy. He and Alex find a young orphaned boy living alone in the forest. They befriend him and then two old men with mysterious secrets. Things are looking strange but up for Charlie until he finds out a horrible secret of Jacob's. This secret becomes the catalyst for a series of dangerous revelations and adventures that Charlie and his new group of friends must deal with in order to save mankind. Stone tells an epic tale of an unhappy and unwanted young boy, an emo girl, a battered orphan, and two old men who believe in angels and werewolves. This book deserves a solid five stars for the creation of a fantasy world that rivals that of Lord Of The Rings and realistic, fully developed teen heroes.
